Medication Disposal Drop Box - Cherokee County Courthouse

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, provides a secure pharmaceutical take-back drop box for proper disposal of unused or expired medications. This service is offered year-round during regular courthouse hours as a free resource to the citizens of Cherokee County.

The medication disposal container is located:
• Inside the Cherokee County Courthouse
• Second Floor
• Just inside the front doors, next to the public directory board and vending area

Accepted Items
Residents may safely dispose of the following:
• Unused or expired prescription medications
• Unneeded over-the-counter medications
• Medications in pill or tablet form

Items Not Accepted
For safety and regulatory reasons, the following cannot be placed in the drop box:
• Syringes or needles (sharps)
• Inhalers
• Liquids, gels, or chemicals
• Pressurized containers
• Hazardous medical waste
These restrictions help ensure safe handling and proper destruction of medications collected through the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics Safe Trip for Scripts Program.
